Think about why you want to be close to the Sagrada Familia – do you want a view of this incredible building from your bedroom window?  Or perhaps from a rooftop terrace?  Or maybe you just want the convenience of a place to stay near Sagrada Familia so you can visit early in the morning.

I’ve picked out the best hotels with a view of Sagrada Familia either from the bedrooms or a terrace, as well as convenient hotels close to the Sagrada Familia that might not have a view but are still in a great location.

Our Pick for the Best Hotel Near La Sagrada Familia:

Sercotel Hotel Rossellón (Formerly the Ayre Hotel Rossellón)

Sercotel Hotel Rossellon is one of the best hotels with a view of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, with up-close views of the cathedral from some of the bedrooms and from the roof terrace.  The hotel used to be called the Ayre Hotel Rossellón but has now been rebranded, and it is a short 4-minute walk from the hotel to the basilica.

If you want to see La Sagrada Familia from your room, make sure you book a superior room with a “Landmark View”.  I treated myself to one of these rooms, and the view really is incredible!  These superior rooms are a decent size and well-furnished.  All rooms have en-suite bathrooms, air-con, a mini bar fridge and wifi.

There is also a rooftop terrace with a bar and panoramic views of Barcelona, including the Sagrada Familia, where you can enjoy a drink and some tapas or just gaze at the cathedral.

There is no longer a swimming pool up there, but it is a lovely spot for a drink.  Unfortunately, access to the terrace is not suitable for wheelchair users.

The hotel also has an onsite restaurant serving a buffet breakfast and evening meals, as well as the tapas menu served on the terrace.  >>>CHECK PRICES AND AVAILABILITY

Why Stay Near the Sagrada Familia

If you’re still not sure which hotel in Barcelona to book, La Sagrada Familia is one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona and is a must-see when you come to the city.  Staying in a hotel close to the Sagrada Familia means you might be lucky enough to enjoy views of this magnificent building from your bedroom, or from the rooftop terrace of your hotel.

Even if you can’t see it from the hotel, staying near the Sagrada Familia means you can visit the attraction early in the morning without worrying about battling crowds or getting stuck in traffic.  Understandably, it is a popular place to visit so it gets extremely busy, and arriving early means you can miss most of the queues and the crowds and can enjoy visiting La Sagrada Familia in relative quiet.

The Sagrada Familia is in a neighbourhood called Eixample, meaning “Expansion”.  It is a spacious district in Barcelona with wide, tree-lined streets and impressive modernist architecture, with many of the city’s most famous landmarks, including Hospital Sant Pau and Casa Batlló found here, as well as the Sagrada Familia.

In addition to its architecture, Eixample is also a great area for shopping and dining. This is where you’ll find high-end boutiques and designer stores, especially on the iconic Passeig de Gracia.

Eixample is known for its upscale dining scene, with many of the city’s top chefs opening restaurants in the neighbourhood, although if you’re visiting Barcelona on a budget there are plenty of cheap eats here too, and lots of cool cocktail bars.

While many of the places to eat next to La Sagrada Familia are low-quality fast-food joints, there are also some excellent restaurants near Sagrada Familia where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Eixample also has excellent transport links, including metro stations and bus routes, making it easy to explore other parts of the city. This ensures that you have convenient access to various attractions and the rest of Barcelona.
