If you’re looking for a romantic hotel in Barcelona Spain you’re in the right place! Whether you’re taking a romantic trip to Barcelona with your partner or planning your Barcelona honeymoon I’ve selected 10 of my favourite romantic hotels in Barcelona for couples looking for a special place to stay.
The Best Place to Stay in Barcelona for Couples
The great news is that there is no bad place to stay in Barcelona, each neighbourhood has its own charm to discover. Some couples may like the old narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter and El Born, where you can get lost together and find cosy bars and restaurants to enjoy.
Others might prefer the Eixample, where you can find some fabulous luxury hotels alongside some of Gaudi’s most famous works. Speaking of Gaudi, staying close to the Sagrada Familia area is another romantic area in Barcelona where you can’t help but fall in love with Gaudi’s stunning cathedral as well as your partner!
If you prefer to stay somewhere less touristic then the Gracia neighbourhood and up into the hills of the Sarria district would be best for you, so you can enjoy feeling like a local in Barcelona!
On the other hand, If you don’t mind being around all the other tourists but want to be close to the beach so you can sunbathe and take romantic walks on the beach, then Barceloneta is the place for you!
No matter where you choose to stay there are lots of romantic things to do in Barcelona for couples, so you can have a lovely weekend away together.

Beware of pickpockets
- Although Barcelona is a safe city, pickpockets are a problem here, particularly in popular tourist areas and on the metro. Do not keep your wallet or cash in trouser pockets and keep your hand on your bags at all times.
- Use a theft-proof backpack and consider getting some hidden-pocket clothing to keep your belongings safe.
Romantic Hotels in the Gothic Quarter
For me, the Gothic Quarter is the most romantic place to stay in Barcelona, with beautiful architecture and quiet squares to explore as you stroll around the narrow streets. There are some gorgeous romantic hotels in Barcelona’s Old Town and you are surrounded by history and beautiful buildings everywhere you look.
For a wonderfully romantic place to stay in Barcelona, Hotel Neri is a Relais & Chateau 5* chic, exclusive hotel hidden away in a quiet square in the Gothic Quarter, close to the cathedral. It has gorgeous décor with a blend of period charm and sophisticated design, including a lovely rooftop garden with a bar where you can enjoy a cocktail or two in the evening.
The Deluxe Rooms with Terrace have a relaxation area outside in the fresh air, along with an outdoor bathtub for those romantic nights in! I very much enjoyed a romantic stay here a few years ago – I’m just waiting for the right moment to book it again…
For a mid-range romantic stay in Barcelona, H10 Madison hotel has unbeatable views of the Gothic Cathedral from the roof terrace and gets rave reviews for the friendly staff and excellent location. The hotel is in a restored early 20th-century building with elegant architecture and high ceilings.
The rooftop Terrassa del Gòtic with plunge pool is the big draw here, although you can book a Classic Catedral Room with views of the Cathedral as well. The central location means you are just a few steps from the cathedral, and can explore the hidden corners of the Gothic Quarter at your leisure.
Romantic Hotels near La Sagrada Familia
This iconic Barcelona landmark is one of the top places to visit in Barcelona, so choosing a hotel with views of La Sagrada Familia is an excellent option for couples looking for a romantic hotel in Barcelona.
Sercotel Hotel Rosellon
Sercotel Hotel Rossello is one of the only hotels in Barcelona with a close-up view of La Sagrada Familia (from some of the bedrooms), and waking up to this stunning building right outside your window is a very romantic way to start the day!
Choose a bedroom with a “landmark view” for the best views, and all bedrooms have a mini-bar, en-suite bathroom and super comfy beds.
There is a rooftop terrace with a bar and panoramic views of Barcelona, including the Sagrada Familia, where you can enjoy a drink and some tapas as the sun goes down.
Sensation Sagrada Familia
If you prefer an apartment, check out Sensation Sagrada Familia for bright and modern apartments with a shared sun terrace, a small outdoor swimming pool and views of the famous Sagrada Familia. >>>CHECK PRICES & AVAILABILITY

Cheap Romantic Hotels in Barcelona
Romance doesn’t have to cost the earth, and while you might have to skip some of the extra amenities you usually find in more luxurious hotels, these budget romantic Barcelona hotels are perfect for couples who are looking for a cheap getaway.
To help stretch your budget, avoid peak times like Valentine’s Day and the summer holidays, and bear in prices tend to peak on Friday & Saturday nights so if you can get time off work then a mid-week break might not sound as romantic as a weekend away, but it can make your money go a lot further.
While it isn’t easy to find high-quality cheap hotels in Barcelona these options strike a nice balance of price and quality – if the budget is still too high for you then you can browse cheap hotels in Barcelona on Booking.com here.
Forget Me Not Barcelona
This lovely romantic hotel in Eixample is just 400 metres from La Pedrera and is a great place to spend some time with your partner. The rooms are bright and airy and most have a balcony and a city view where you can watch the world go by.

A breakfast buffet is served in the mornings for an extra cost, or you could eat out at any of the cafes and restaurants nearby. The rooftop pool is an added bonus for warm weather stays!
